AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism, SABEW Best in Business Honorable Mention

I’m excited to announce that I and my co-author Caroline Chen have been awarded the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism for our investigative ProPublica piece, Black Patients Miss Out On Promising Cancer Drugs.

Additionally, our piece was awarded the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) Best in Business Honorable Mention in the Health/Science category.

Feeling, as always, very grateful for the opportunity. Many thanks to my co-author Caroline Chen, editor Sisi Wei, and the Google News Lab Fellowship for making this piece possible. To echo a sentiment from Caroline: “I hope that access to clinical trials improves so that this story becomes irrelevant asap.” And, on a larger scale, I hope that health justice across the board can become a reality ASAP as well.
